Each month, I volunteer two times in the kids ministry at my church that I attend and I also take photos for them as well. It is one of my favorite things to do because I love giving back to a place that basically saved my life. I choose this leisure activity to include in my e-Portfolio because I think it shows that I use my time to volunteer for something that is very important to me. This artifact taught me the importance of leisure activities because in the Bible, it tells us to rest and some of the ways people can find rest is by participating in their leisure activities. So, knowing how I can find rest and enjoy the people around me has made all the difference to me. I think this leisure activity shows future companies that I enjoy being able to volunteer at a place that has helped grow as a person. It will hopefully reflect back that I am trustworthy and want to use my leisure activities to help spread good. Volunteering at church has helped change my view of leisure activities over time by being the place where I found out I could use photography, a favorite leisure activity of mine, to promote and help my church grow. It also revealed that if I wanted to, I could use photography as a future job. Lastly, I think this leisure activity has given me the idea that people will find their leisure activities in the right time and place. People will also know when they get a feeling of peace that this leisure activity is for them.
Environmental Needs in my Community (PSA)
I chose this speech for my e-Portfolio because I am proud of the research I did and how my speech all came together. I feel like I was a strong speaker and I feel very strongly about climate change since I live in Florida and have firsthand felt the effects of climate change. The artifact increased my knowledge by making me dig deeper into how climate change is affecting my community. Most people know how climate change is affecting the world, but they don’t know how it is affecting their community. With this assignment, I had to find specific research and information about how climate change is affecting Florida. I think the artifact reveals that I care about the community since I researched how climate change is affecting my community. Not many people can talk about how climate change is killing the Everglades due to an increase of salt water. I don’t think I would change anything about this artifact. I created this speech over the summer and I feel pretty confident in it, so I wouldn’t change anything about it. I could definitely see myself implementing ideas from this artifact into other areas of my life. When picking future jobs, I want that job to be aware of climate change and ensure that job is doing everything they can to not leave a carbon footprint on the world. Lastly, I see myself growing from this artifact and being more environmentally friendly. I learned a lot from this assignment and I want to ensure I am doing my part in keeping this planet clean.
