CREATIVE LIFE

Creativity Reflection

Being able to be creative and have an imagination is one of the things that sets humans apart from any other species on the planet. Humans are able to take a mundane thing like words on a piece of paper and turn it into a whole other world inside of their heads. I personally love using my creativity to come up with different ideas or to solve a problem in my life. It brings me joy and happiness that I have the ability to do such an amazing thing. During 2020 when the whole entire world shut down because of Covid, I was completely and utterly bored. I would finish my homework on the first day it was assigned and then have nothing else to do for the rest of the week. I went from being super busy with school and band activities to just sitting on my bed, thinking about different things I could do. One idea that popped into my head was to start creating videos on Tik Toks to share and enjoy with my friends and family. One video that I created was how to make homemade Dole Whip, which is a type of ice cream sold at the Disney Theme parks. It was such a fun video to make. I brought Tik Tok along to the store and bought all of the ingredients. Then, once I got home, I put all the ingredients together and showed my viewers how to make the Dole Whip. The video went pretty viral and I was even featured in a news article, which made me feel cool and I continued making videos for my viewers. I continued on with the Disney themed content, because that is what people seemed to enjoy the most and I also enjoyed making the content. Another video that I had a lot of fun making was a rebel spy photoshoot. One of the trends that was going on at the time was what your mugshot would look like, so I switched the trend up. I made it based on the ride Star Tours, where the ride picks one person as the “rebel spy.” It is extremely hard to get the rebel spy on the ride, so that’s why I thought it was funny to make my own rebel spy headshots. People loved it and some people even made their own version of the rebel spy tik tok trend! One of my favorite video series that I made during Covid was new ride ideas for the Disney parks. These videos were my most popular videos and many people asked me to keep making them. I would watch a Disney movie and then come up with a new ride for that movie. My favorite ride idea was a Tangled themed water ride or a brand-new Disney Channel theme park with different rides from the shows. I enjoyed making these videos so much because it pushed me creatively and I had to branch out beyond my confront zone. Making these videos allowed me to cure my boredom at home during Covid and allowed me to turn a scary situation into something positive. I think knowing we all have this power of creativity and imagination changes how we live life. For me, I look at life thinking how can I make this bad situation more fun and creative. For example, having my college education online has made me come up with creative ways to get my work done. If I am restless or can not focus, I leave the house with my school things and go to another place to get my work done. It is amazing how brains can come up with so many creative ideas if we let them. I think a lot of people are scared of being creative or having too much of an imagination, but I believe that part of our brains is what makes life so fun. I am a firm believer that we should never dim our creativity because that is how we were made to live and get through the hard times in life.

Photography Business

When I was in fifth grade I started taking pictures of random things in my life with my grandma’s camera. Every time I would come over to her house, I would find the camera and take photos of flowers, the sky, or anything that looked pretty. Photography has always been a way that I have felt seen and heard, which is why it means so much to me. So, I chose to include my photography, because it tells a lot about my story and it showcases my creativity to future employers. This artifact has increased my learning, because it has made me branch out of my comfort zone. When taking photos, I have to talk to random people who are my customers so I have had to learn people skills and how to communicate with people I do not know. This artifact shows that creativity is one of my favorite areas in my professional and educational life. I put a lot of hard work into my photography and I hope that shows to people. For me, there are no changes I would make in my photography. I am proud of how everything turned out and each photo I improve little by little. I hope with my photography, I start branching out to use it more professionally. My dream is to get paid for photography and have that as my main job, either through social media or through a business. So, after I finish with school, I want to start taking my photography more seriously and make more time for it.

Writing Screenplays

I took a creative writing class as one of my electives and it was the hardest, but most rewarding class I have ever had to take. In the class, we had to come up with a screenplay about anything that we wanted to write about. Months before this class, I had this story idea in my head and this class finally allowed me to write about it. I chose this artifact to include in my e-Portfolio, because it showcases how I can adapt my writing skills to whatever is needed of me. I can write a screenplay, poetry, professional writing, etc. Creating this artifact has helped my learning, because I had to submit my creative writing to be graded and scored, which I have never done before. It was terrifying to receive feedback on a project that you hold so close to your heart, but it was worth it. I enjoyed reading the feedback and improving my writing where it was needed. I think this artifact reveals I have a very creative mind. I made a brand-new world with new characters and turned it into this screenplay. This screenplay showed me how much I actually do enjoy writing and would not mind doing it in the future. It turned my dread of writing into a love for writing and I could not be more grateful for that. I hope as I grow into my writing skills in the future that I do not lose the love that I have for writing right now. I want to remember the feeling of making new characters and worlds, which allow me to express a part of myself that I don’t usually get to express.
