Leisure Activities
Leisure Activities
I chose this artifact to be in my e-Portfolio because it connects my passions to my professional career and I think that is really important for future companies to see. This artifact increased the importance of leisure activities by allowing me to see how I like to spend my free time. If I ever get stressed in the future, I will be able to fall back on these leisure activities to unwind and hopefully make me feel less stressed. I think my leisure activities show people how creative I am and enjoy creating new things. Most of my leisure activities include being creative and relying on your imagination to create new photographs or videos. This will also be another important thing for future employers to see, since they will want to know that I am creative, especially if I end up going into photography or video editing. I think my view of leisure activities has changed over the years. I went from thinking leisure activities had to make you rest and relax to realizing leisure activities are just things that make you happy. Leisure activities can be anything and everything! Two ideas that this leisure activity presentation has given me are being able to use your mind to create is important and your leisure activities do not need to match up with anyone else. I felt worried that my leisure activities would not be the right fit for this class, but then I realized everyone has their own favorite leisure activities and I should not compare my leisure activities to anyone else.
Civic Organizations
I personally do not have a leisure activity linked to a civic organization, but if I were to pick one, I would choose something that helps endangered wildlife. I think organizations that help threaten wildlife are critical to the planet and need to be more focused on. I would choose this particular artifact in my e-Portfolio because by adding a wildlife organization, it would spread awareness to them. Spreading awareness is what endangered animals need, since most people do not know half of the endangered animals out there. This artifact would increase my understanding of leisure because it would show people that leisure activities can be essential to the world. If saving and spreading awareness of endangered animals to people is what I enjoy in my free time, that is extremely important. A couple of years ago, I actually did a whole photoshoot around plastic and sea life. Once I finished the photoshoot, I posted it on social media to tell people about how plastic is killing sea life. I think this was another artifact that showed me how I can use my leisure activity for good and I hope future employers will see how much I care about the planet and all of the endangered animals. This leisure activity has reminded me how much I want to continue to share and help endangered animals. I would love to work for a company that focuses on this to ensure that my leisure activities are used for good and not something that will save the planet.
