Downtown Diner Social Media Plan

The Downtown Diner social media plan that I created for COMU 420 was probably one of the hardest assignments I did during my educational journey. It was over twenty pages long and I had to do a lot of research for the project. It is why I included it into my ePortfolio because I am very proud of the work I did on it and how the project came together. I got an A on the project and I had a lot of fun making the social media plan. The project shows I know how to use social media and it shows that I know how to use Canva from the social media posts I made in the social media plan.

I think creating this artifact helped me to see exactly what is needed in a social media plan. Before, I didn’t really know the exact details needed in a plan, I just knew a social media plan helped showcase the business or company you were making it for. So, this artifact helped me to grow professionally and be ready in the future to make social media plans for other businesses.

I can definitely see using the information gained from making this social media plan in other plans in the future. I hope as I make more social media plans, I will improve my plan making skills and be able to adapt to different businesses to gain the most profit for them. My goal is to make a social media plan that tells the story of the business I am making it for.

Case Study #2

For COMU 375, I had to interview someone about ethical issues they were/have faced on social media. I picked my friend Megan to interview and she talked about how she has faced cyberbullying, misinformation, and privacy issues on social media. I picked this artifact for my e-Portfolio because it shows how I know how to interview people for future jobs. It also shows that I know of the ethical issues many people face while being on social media. I think creating this artifact increased my knowledge about these ethical issues because I heard firsthand how these issues are affecting people. For the most part, I would read research articles about these issues, but to interview someone and learn directly from that person was very interesting. Some changes I would make to this artifact is to add more direct quotes from Megan and to get more information from her. When I interviewed her, I got a good amount of information, but I could have gotten more to make my assignment better and more credible. I definitely could see myself using the skills I gained from this artifact in future jobs since I will probably have to interview people. Also, knowing the ethical issues on social media is very important, since I want to work with social media in the future. Lastly, I can see myself growing from this artifact by watching out for certain ethical issues online and standing up for people who are facing these ethical issues. Professionally I can grow by ensuring that cyberbullying, misinformation, and abusing people’s privacy is not accepted at my future place of employment.

Creating a Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics I created for Poppi, which is a prebiotic soda company, was something out of my comfort zone. I had no idea what a code of ethics exactly was before this so I saw this assignment as a very daunting task. The assignment was eleven pages long and took me about two weeks to complete all together. It showcases how I researched other code of ethics before making Poppi’s code of ethics. For example, I talked about how Poppi does a great job at listening to customers, but they could improve on handling a scandal that happened to their company. The project showed how I will do my research in order to ensure my company has the best code of ethics. Creating this artifact really pushed me to learn something new. I did not mind creating the Code of Ethics for Poppi and would love doing it again for another company. It was important that I did this assignment to know how to handle a business’ code of ethics, if it ever occurs in the future. It is also important because it showed me how to react and how not to react in certain situations online. I learned the best thing a company can do online is to not over react to anything or customers might take it in a completely different way. In the future, I hope I am able to use the knowledge I gained from doing this assignment and apply it to an actual code of ethics. I want to use my skills that I have learned to help businesses have the best code of ethics that their employees can trust and use.

DEI Analysis Project

For this artifact, I took the Walt Disney Company and analyzed their DEI programs and listed some ways they could improve their program. I chose the Walt Disney Company, because Disney is known for their diversity in their workforce and I knew I could learn a lot from them. I really enjoyed this project because DEI is something that I am passionate about. I think everyone deserves to be seen and heard in the workforce and DEI does something about that. I gained valuable information from a company that is leading the DEI programs that I hope to use in my future. This artifact helped me grow professionally because it made me see DEI from another lens. It pulled me back to see DEI from a corporate perspective instead of a worker perspective. I was able to see how corporate officials are trying to change the Disney company to be more diverse than it already is by building DEI support programs. I think this is really neat and allows people to join those support programs for anyone who does not feel seen or heard. I hope as I grow in the future I will be able to use my knowledge I gained from this DEI assignment on businesses I might work with in the future. Again, DEI is very important and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to be heard in their company and DEI allows them to be seen and heard.

Social Media Crisis Plan

For COMU 420, we picked a specific business and had to come up with a social media crisis plan and what we would do if a crisis struck the diner/area. I chose this particular artifact because I am proud of how it turned out. It took me a long time to make and there are a few things I would change about this assignment. At first, I was weary about this artifact, because I did not know what it entailed, but after researching some other social media crisis plans, I enjoyed making this one. Again, I think this artifact shows how much I care about my education and how I put in a lot of work for each assignment. Hopefully, this will show future jobs that I am a hard worker and I am up for the challenge. The one thing that I would do differently with this artifact is add more scenarios and go more in depth on the steps a business should take in a social media crisis. For the project, I briefly went over the steps since my professor wanted a one page limit, but if I had more time, I would add more steps to do. In the future, I can see myself making social media crisis plans for future jobs and using my hardworking skills to create those plans. Since I have made one crisis plan, I now know what to expect and my future plans will be better and more informative.
